About
The Coventry Canal is a narrow Canal which travels for 38 miles (65 km) between Coventry and Fradley Junction, just north of Lichfield, where it joins the Trent and Mersey Canal. It also runs through the towns of Bedworth, Nuneaton, Atherstone, Polesworth and Tamworth. It is navigable for boats up to 21.9m (72ft) length, 2.1m (7ft) beam and 1.9m (6ft 6) headroom. #The towpath is great for walking, and along the way you can spot the artworks by local artists. They make up an Art Trail from the Basin to Hawkesbury Junction, the junction with the Oxford Canal.
Beyond Coventry, the canal is very rural, and home to diverse wildlife. At its other end, the Coventry Canal joins the Trent & Mersey Canal at picturesque Fradley Junction. Here, information boards tell the story of the canal, and a there is a nature reserve where you can go pond-dipping and bird watching.
