Whats on Staffordshire

There’s a packed programme of events in Staffordshire with plenty to suit every taste all-year round including markets, food and drink festivals, live music, great theatre and stand-up, and exhilarating sporting occasions.

The Betfred Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter Racecourse in March is one of the biggest sporting events in Staffordshire, drawing 16000 fans to a full day of pulsating horse-racing, topped off with the second largest steeplechase in the UK.

May sees the county mark its annual Staffordshire Day with a huge choice of events, special offers and competitions to celebrate the attractions, beauty, culture, history and people of Staffordshire.

Explore our traditions in May with well dressings in Staffordshire at Newborough and Endon, and the Staffordshire County Show highlighting our agricultural roots, or wait until September for the quirky Abbots Bromley Horn Dance.

There’s plenty of dancing to be done at outdoor concerts like Forest Live at Cannock Chase, and the Hot Summer Saturdays at The Trentham Estate.

The Homecoming Festival in Newcastle under Lyme celebrates their own Philip Astley, the founder of the modern circus, who was born in the town in 1742.

If you’re looking for other cultural events, the Lichfield Festival has featured comedy, ballet, theatre and more since 1982, while Stafford Castle is the backdrop for Stafford Festival Shakespeare.

Elsewhere in the summer, thousands will hit Staffordshire’s waterways and streets for the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, while the action takes to the skies at RAF Museum Cosford for the Cosford Air Show.

As summer turns to autumn, the Stone Food & Drink Festival showcases the best of Staffordshire food and drink, while ghouls and zombies descend on Alton Towers Resort for Scarefest and the National Forest Adventure Farm’s Screamfest.

Drayton Manor Park leads the county's fireworks spectaculars in November before transforming for their Magical Christmas, while the Tamworth Snowdome becomes a Winter Wonderland in one of a host of Christmas events in Staffordshire.

And there's nowhere better to welcome in the New Year, with loads of events in Staffordshire to choose from including big occasions at Alton Towers Resort and Uttoxeter Racecourse.

Whats on in Stoke on Trent

Head to the World Capital of Ceramics this winter and you’ll find artisan markets at World of Wedgwood, craft workshops at Middleport Pottery and the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, and great shopping offers at the Emma Bridgewater Factory.

There’s hilarious stand-up at the Victoria Hall, also home to live music from well-known performers and tribute shows through the year.

And you can get into the festive spirit with Christmas events in Stoke like the Christmas Lights Switch-ons at The Trentham Estate and Stoke City Centre, while the spectacular panto hits the stage at The Regent Theatre every year.

Whats on in Lichfield

If you’re looking for spectacular entertainment, head for the historic Garrick Theatre – named after Lichfield’s ground-breaking actor David Garrick – and Lichfield Cathedral, where breath-taking light and sound shows use the magnificent structure as a canvas.
