A former mining town, today Biddulph is better known as the garden town of Staffordshire due to its proximity to the National Trust Biddulph Grange Garden and the prolific floral displays which adorn the town centre throughout the year created by ‘Biddulph in Bloom’.
Within Biddulph’s compact town centre you’ll find a range of independent local shops and eateries including butchers, baked goods, restaurants, pubs, cafes and takeaways as well as Povey’s Oatcakes freshly making our local delicacy, the Staffordshire Oatcake to order!
Surrounded by dramatic scenery and nestled in the valley between Biddulph Moor and Mow Cop Castle, Biddulph offers plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and enjoying the outdoors.
From the easily accessible Biddulph Valley Way, a hard surfaced traffic-free path perfect for bikes, prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters; to the strenuous Staffordshire Way long distance path which begins at nearby Mow Cop and runs the entire length of the county for 92 miles, you’ll find routes to suit all abilities and ages.
There are two country parks around the town - Greenway Bank Country Park, Knypersley lies to the South and Biddulph Grange Country Park lies to the North. Both country parks were originally part of larger estates, and include lakes, pools and waterways surrounded by peaceful woodland walks.
A trip to Biddulph wouldn’t be complete without visiting the wonderful Biddulph Grange Garden! Lovingly restored and maintained by the National Trust, this amazing garden was created by Victorian plantsman James Bateman to showcase his worldwide collection of plants. As you explore the garden you’re taken on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen.
