Support for people with autism

There is a huge amount of support available for people with learning disabilities including autism, Asperger’s syndrome and ADHD.

There are exclusive events at Waterworld throughout the year, which are open to anyone with additional needs, offering the chance to tackle some of the rides with a carer, guest numbers are capped to reduce queueing, and no music is played.

Quiet rooms at Alton Towers allow you to escape from the mayhem, while the park also has ear defenders available if you need them.

And the virtual tours at Lichfield Cathedral give a great insight to what you can expect from a visit to this magnificent building, the only three-spired cathedral in the country.

Support for people with hearing loss

Many of our businesses have introduced new measures to help people living with hearing loss.

Assistance dogs are welcome at Alton Towers, Churnet Valley Railway, World of Wedgwood and Lichfield Cathedral.

Hearing loops have been installed at Alton Towers, Uttoxeter Racecourse, the National Memorial Arboretum, and Lichfield Cathedral.

And vibrating or flashing alarms can be provided at Alton Towers, Trentham Monkey Forest, and the Hilton Garden Inn Stoke-on-Trent.

Support for people with dementia

To help visitors living with dementia, the National Memorial Arboretum has introduced bright lighting wherever possible, clear signage, and contrasting colours in public areas such as the restaurant.
